In a perfect world there would be happiness — true, lasting happiness. The type that makes everyone feel validated; seen.
I’d like to see this perfect world, but more importantly, I’d like to make sense of it.
Because in a perfect world, suffering wouldn’t exist, or at least not how we know it.
In a perfect world, things would be exquisitely and painfully beautiful, like reading a novel you never want to end.
In a perfect world, I’d like to see friendship — people helping people for no other reason besides that we all need a hand up sometimes.
In my perfect world I see all of us — yes, every single one of us, living our best lives, our happiest ones. I see us all being there for each other, and perhaps more importantly, for ourselves.
I believe in this perfect world, but I can’t grasp onto it, especiallly not the way a baby instinctively nestles into its mothers chest, safe and secure.
I believe in it because I’ve seen glimpses of it already. People helping people, and others not ashamed to accept it.
I believe a perfect world is possible, but I don’t think any of us know how to reach it.
It’s like an elusive invisibility cloak — one second there, before it disappears again.
I want to know more. I want to understand why we need that invisibility cloak to begin with.
I want a new reality, not just for myself, but for the world at large. I want to live in a reality that makes sense. A transparent reality without that film of dust clouding its way.
I want answers to why people suffer and I want there to be no more suffering at all — in the entire world. I wish for a world that is free of pain.
I want a world that we never want to walk away from. I want a world that leaves us with more answers than questions.
I want the scars we have to slowly fade, and I want the touch of a stranger to feel like the most healing of hands.
I believe it’s possible to live in such a world. I believe together we can make incredible things happen.
And I believe unity is the key we’ve been searching for without even knowing it.
I want us all to believe in humanity. I want us all to have the power and the strength to heal each other, and heal ourselves in the process.
In a perfect world, perspective will be something we take for granted, like a cup filled with tap water.
But I want that same cup to be a gesture of something more, something bigger.
I want gratefulness to run through us to the point where every little thing is amplified into something much greater.
In a perfect world, I want happiness — true, lasting happiness.
And I want it now, just as much as you do.
So together, let’s try to make it happen. Let’s make our dream a reality and allow our reality to be as awe-inspiring as our dreams.
Amen.
